LANDING THE PLANE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION, PLEASE CHECK OUT WINTERKELE AND COLORING PAGES WHILE I UPDATE - THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE!

Landing the Plane is a collection of work by Beatrice McGeoch (and occasional collaborators!) B is entranced by the natural world and human ingenuity within it, but puzzled and distressed by the destructive aspects of modern western life. They respond with creative cultural work which intends to change the world for the better. Their work covers many themes: keeping house; working in the civic realm; gardening and relating to the environment; and engaging with friends, lovers and family. They draw and write beautiful things for their communities, and they love making digital and print editions of these things so that many can share and enjoy !!

"Landing The Plane" plane is both a metaphor and a reality for people living all over the world. We're on a fleet of airplanes going down- despite not having chosen the role, built the craft, or mapped the flight plan. The craft are burning fossil fuels at industrial scales to stay aloft. Their creators believed that they would fly indefinitely, and some still insist that they are essentially fine, just needing a few small fixes. We know that they have to land, but the mechanism that keeps them up is so complex and has so many moving parts! These pages are written to support changes and provide possible courses of action for parents, aunties and elders who are acting as pilots and crew looking for means to a safe landing.

I create material specific to temperate forest zones, and the watersheds in my current location by the side of the Narragansett Bay. I choose language and grammar to show alternatives to common expressions that are individualistic, competitive, and "growth" oriented. Those metaphors erode our sense of interdependence and obligation to each other and the natural environment, and we can do better. I also write and draw to have fun! Despite challenges, the world is a fantastic place with much to thrill us and be optimistic about.

CASTLE 350 CASTLE 350 pp3-4 CASTLE 350 centerfold

From a very young age I knew that something was fundamentally wrong with the network & customs I was being raised with. CASTLE 350 unites multiple threads and begins to resolve a lifelong investigation into the history of our culture in developed "Western" places (for me, England and New England) by exploring the history of the town of North Kingstown, Rhode Island. Of 100 copies printed, 50 were sent to subscribers of the Community Supported Art (CSA) through Binch Press/QAW studio & zine library in Providence, RI. Several copies remain available. The Roman calendar is not going away anytime soon, but it does not have to be the only calendar framing our lives. I developed and printed a Seven Seasons calendar in response to my intuitive experiences of moving through the year. The calendar development process is converging with my research on education approaches to transition our modern lives to sustainable practices that cut pollution and support community health. The Seven Seasons I identified by refelcting on my relationship with the environment through the year coincide quite nicely with a “non-calendar based reckoning” system known as “Modern mid-latitude ecological reckoning.” My COLORHODEISLAND pages are also organised by this calendar.

I research and advocate for increased public transit.
I research and advocate for blue and green jobs.
I make a winter calendar with my friend.
I draw and write coloring pages about nature.
Image of an airplane with a wide-eyed pilot and an equally wide-eyed passenger holding on to a wing.
I research and advocate for new types of land ownership.
I design and make toys from wood and paper.
